Interesting new work published in The American Journal of Physiology- Cell Physiology evaluated the ability of muscle-derived pericyte to contribute to skeletal muscle remodeling in response to training. The researchers used electric stimulation to contract muscles and monitor the response of pericyte cells. They found that the CD146+ Lin- pericyte cells were the most sensitive to contraction and they contribute to upregulating ECM remodeling and angio...
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! In a newly published paper in the American Journal of Sports Medicine, a group of PhDs and Surgeons used our F-CHPs to evaluate the collagen turnover after a complete ACL tear. They visualized the collagen turnover using CHPs (Panel D) and quantified the signal. They found that there was a statistically significant increase in dynamic collagen remodeling in the injured vastus lateralis muscle (outer quad muscle) vs the ...
A newly published article in the American Journal of Physiology- Renal Physiology showed there was increased collagen remodeling in pateints with chronic kidney disease which is due to skeletal muscle fibrosis. This increase in collagen degradation was specifically visualized using F-CHP. This image shows damaged collagen (green), collagen IV (red), and cell nuclei (blue). This interesting work was performed by the Fry Lab (UTMB).
